Last Saturday has been quite a busy day for me. I've got my home's living room and dining room refurbished with laminated flooring. *grin* Thanks to Lasapka for the introduction of the special flooring, after much persuasion, My wife and I finally decided to floor it! *laugh* The result was fantastic! We chose Toni Beech. The colour is just nice. *wink*

Product Development Update
It has come to the 3rd weeks of our product development and we're basically experiencing some downtown time in sourcing for the right pneumatics actuators and power packs. My engineering team - eXpedio Solutions, has been in talks with 5 different automation suppliers and finally, we have decided to go for a Korean company namely, Hydro-Tek. We will be working closely with the Hydro-Tek representative to build the special mini power pack control system. Once that's done, we can work on designing and enclosure to conceal cabling, etc. In the meantime, we've gotten all the dimensions for the parts and can continue with the detailed design.
As our active aerodynamics product required light-weight actuators that come with the right strength to withstand the maximum down-force acted upon it, we're probably going to work with a local pneumatic flow engineering company called WOG Controls. Being the main distributor of CKD Corporations Japan, WOG is a well acknowledged solution provider for pneumatics and fluid controls engineering in South East Asian market.
Rest assured, our progress are still within the schedule and we hope to see a fully functional prototype by the end of October.

Magnetostriction
In a MTS linear-position or liquid-level sensor, a sonic strain pulse is induced in a specially designed magnetostrictive waveguide by the momentary interaction of two magnetic fields. One field comes from a movable permanent magnet which passes along the outside of the sensor tube, the other field comes from a current pulse or interrogation pulse applied along the waveguide. The interaction of the two magnetic fields produces a strain pulse, which travels at sonic speed along the waveguide until the pulse is detected at the head of the sensor.
The position of the magnet is determined with high precision by measuring the elapsed time between the application of the interrogation pulse and the arrival of the resulting strain pulse. Consequently, accurate non-contact position or liquid-level sensing is achieved with absolutely no wear to the sensing components.
The sensor is composed of four key elements:
- Waveguide sensing element
- Integral sensing and output conditioning electronics module(s)
- A protective, product-compatible applications housing designed to provide the right combination of environmental protection and physical mounting configurations for a wide variety of installation possibilities.
- An external permanent magnet.
There are two classic applications of this technology – one where the magnet is attached to a machine part to sense linear position, and the other where the magnet is placed inside a float (designed for a specific density) and the sensor then measures liquid level.
Now, guys, do you have any idea of what you just read? I myself don't even have a single clue! lolz!
Lately I've been fed with these kind of information as the development of my product has been up and running and it has been giving me indigestion as I need to have some knowledge of what might be utilize in the second stage of the development works. How I wish I could mix it into a cup of 3 in 1 coffee...

Fossil Escapade - Part 2
Some more photos... *wink*
Close up shot of the tiny winy sea shells found on the cliff walls
A bunch of happy camper
A beautiful sea urchin
Lovely beach
Nice bungee jumping spot
A clear puddle with little fishes
Blue sky...
Aliens?
A gastropod
A pretty sea shell
Fossilized rock
MNS publication on the rare Bekenu Fossil Crabs
A friendly appearance by a horse-shoe crab
Woah! Stupidhead's lunch
Releasing the horse-shoe crab
Herring bones formation
Another rock formation
The most valuable find of the day - A shark tooth
Flower
A fossilized scallop
Yeah... a photographers shoot out... lolz!
Some of the things I've collected at the end of the day.. *wink*

Fossil Escapade - Part 1
It was a nice and beautiful Saturday morning. I was honoured to be a part of the Tusan Fossil Hunt trip organised by MNS. We kicked off our trip to Tusan around 0800hrs and I got the privilege to meet two cheerful souls of the MC.Net, Cync aka. TeamGD and Rodney aka. Athrun_zala_faith and few other friendly people who joined in the fun. *grin*
The trip took us almost four hours and we walked almost 4km ( that is, to and fro ) from Tusan to halfway to Beraya and back. It's so amazing to find out that there are so much to see along the beach. Truly fascinating. *smile*
Here are the photos I took during the walk. Hope you enjoy it.. *wink*
Down the steep and slippery path
First stop, a young cave formation?
Nature beauty
A view toward Bungai
Nature curtain
Hmmm... Going for a lil' swim...
Heheheee
One of the many caves along the trail
A drop of water raises the sea. Besides, what else you see in this photo? *wink*
Charlie - The expert giving talk on the rock formation
Another brief on the geological formation of the cliff
Charlie showing the sea bug on his palm
Oh! Hari Raya bargain corner!
The "holes" / honeycomb made by the sea bugs
A cliff along the beach
Pre-historical rock formation
What is this?
Haa.. a cute little beach roach
Walking toward Beraya
Another nice cave to venture
Sign of life
A mysterious "Cave Beast" waiting to devour its prey...
On 2nd thought, he's just a pro photographer trying to take few shots from inside the cave
A beautiful sand art
Batu batu everywhere
